Surveillance camera, built-in algorithm development

The Importance of Improving Development Efficiency in High-End Niche Markets

A customer that provides surveillance cameras in the high-end niche market has chosen the MIMO DSP Platform as the development environment for the algorithms embedded in its new surveillance cameras.

The customer connected the SDI output of a camera developed in-house to the MIMO DSP Platform and developed the algorithm in advance using a GPU.

The developed algorithm was finally incorporated as a logic circuit in the FPGA, which greatly shortened the development process. By taking this form of development, we were able to gain various benefits, such as the ability to use the output of the camera’s on-board sensor as it is, and the ability to develop efficiently by combining the advantages of software and hardware.

In the high-end niche market, it is sometimes necessary to make individual adjustments to products due to minor differences in customer needs. We used to spend a lot of time tweaking the algorithms, but with the MIMO DSP Platform, we are able to develop more efficiently.

Customer Comment: “Our ultimate target is to realize logic circuits using FPGAs. With the MIMO DSP Platform, we are able to run real-time algorithm trials on the GPU against video images, which allows us to perform a large number of algorithm pre-verifications in a short period of time. Now that we can use the MIMO DSP Platform to perform real-time algorithm trials on video using GPUs, we can perform many algorithm pre-verifications in a short period of time.”
